The Most Reverend VICTOR BARNUEVO BENDICO, D.D., will be installed as the fourth Metropolitan Archbishop of Capiz on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral, Roxas City.
Bishop Bendico, who, until now serves as the administrator of the Diocese of Baguio, was ordained priest of the Archdiocese of Capiz in 1984. He succeeds His Eminence Jose F. Cardinal Advincula who was named Archbishop of Manila in June 2021.
The Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Charles John Brown, D.D., will serve as the Installing Prelate. Preparations for the said event are in order under the watch of the Archdiocesan Administrator Msgr. Cyril B. Villareal.
The Code of Canon Law (Can.381 §3) states that “A bishop takes canonical possession of a diocese when he personally… has shown the apostolic letter in the same diocese to the college of consultors in the presence of the chancellor of the curia, who records the event.”
