The results of a boxing match between John Riel Casimero and Ryo Akaho have been changed from a no-contest to a second-round knockout, according to Boxrec.com.
During a boxing match between John Riel Casimero and Ryo Akaho earlier this month, Casimero, a former three-division world champion, attempted to deliver a knockout punch to Akaho in the second round. The punch did not land cleanly, grazing the back of Akaho’s head instead. Despite this, the referee issued a warning, which prompted Akaho to claim that he was injured and unable to continue the fight. As a result, the bout was initially declared a no-contest.
However, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) challenged this outcome and, as of Thursday, December 22, 2022, the result has been revised to indicate that Casimero won the fight by way of knockout. According to Boxrec, the local commission, KBM (Korea Boxing Member’s Commission), determined that Akaho’s surrender was not due to the punch to the back of his head and therefore changed the result of the fight.
