Manila, December 22, 2023 — The PAHAYAG End of Year (P-EOY2023) survey conducted from November 29 to December 4, 2023, reveals a decline in trust in the House of Representatives.

This decline is noticeable across different age groups, income classes, and regions, including the National Capital Region (NCR), North-Central Luzon (NCL), South Luzon (SL), Visayas (VIS), and Mindanao (MIN).

Specifically, people aged 30-39, 40-49, and 60 and above have shown a decrease in trust, going from 43% to 34%, 45% to 34%, and 45% to 32% respectively, from Q3 to Q4.

All income classes also reported lower trust ratings in Q4, with Low Income decreasing from 38% to 35%, Middle Income from 39% to 35%, and High Income from 49% to 32%). Various occupational groups, including Private Workers, Government Workers, Other Workers, OFW Families, Non-OFW Families, No Formal Education, Vocational, and College graduates, also exhibit diminished trust in the House of Representatives.

A concerning finding is that 8 out of 10 Filipino voters acknowledge the presence of corruption in Congress, likely contributing to the growing mistrust.

Surprisingly, half of Filipinos still agree on the necessity of allocating expenses to Congress for faster disbursement, especially during disasters.

However, the other half is split between indecision and disagreement, indicating a deep-seated mistrust in the individuals making up the agency.

This decline in trust towards the House of Representatives highlights the crucial need for transparency and accountability to rebuild public confidence in legislative institutions.

The PAHAYAG 2023 End of the Year Survey (P-EOY2023), conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc., is an independent and non-commissioned survey.

It involved 1,500 respondents randomly selected from a market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos maintained by PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with a multinational presence.

The participants were limited to registered Filipino voters, also maintained by PureSpectrum.

The survey period was from November 29 to December 4, 2023, and the results suggest a decline in trust towards the House of Representatives.
