President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has appealed to the European Union in a bid to boost cooperation and promote peaceful resolutions between countries vying for control of the Indo-Pacific region’s precious maritime resources, urging them to uphold Unclos regulations as an effective means of avoiding conflict.

The President used the Asean-EU Commemorative Summit to urge for stronger ties between both the EU and the ASEAN, emphasizing that enhanced maritime collaboration is a key priority.

At the end of a powerful three-day summit, Mr. Marcos declared ASEAN and the Philippines fully equipped to confront maritime disputes in the South China Sea with increased confidence thanks to vital backing from their strategic European allies.
