Philippines and Japan Sign ¥400 Billion Loan Agreements for North-South Railway and Extension Projects

Manila, Philippines – The Philippines and Japan have taken a significant step towards improving the country’s transportation system with the signing of loan financing deals for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project and its extension.

The agreements were signed in a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office in Japan, in the presence of Philippine Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Akihiko Tanaka. The loan deals will cover the NSCR-Malolos to Tutuban Project and the NSCR Extension Project.

The signing of these loan agreements marks a major milestone in the Philippines’ efforts to enhance its transportation infrastructure and provide a more convenient and efficient railway system for commuters. The projects are expected to have a significant impact on the country’s economy and improve the quality of life for its citizens.

The North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project spans a total of 163 kilometers, including a 40-kilometer stretch from Tutuban in Manila to Malolos in Bulacan, and its two extensions: from Malolos to Clark in Pampanga and from Manila to Calamba in Laguna.
